CURRENT STATUS OF THE NATIONAL YMCA TOP 16

TOP 16 RECOGNITION PROCESSING


Beginning in the 2019-2020 season, recognition was changed from TOP 10 to TOP 16

National YMCA Top 16 recognition includes male and female swimmers ages 11 to 21

Both short course and long course competition are separately recognized

The age of the swimmer is determined by their age as of the first day of each meet

For individual events, TOP 16 Recognition is by single ages: 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21.

For relay events, TOP 16 Recognition is by age groups: 11-12, 13-14, 15-18, and 15-21.

For a relay to qualify in an age group, all swimmers must be within the same age group on the first day of the meet. For the 15-21 age group, at least one swimmer must be over 18, and all the other swimmers must be 15-21 to qualify for this age group.

If all swimmers are not within a single age group, the relay becomes an open age group relay. YMCA TOP 16 does not recognize an Open Age Group.

MEET SUBMISSION


Because YMCA Swimming does not have a comprehensive meet results repository as does USA swimming (USAS SWIMS), YMCA coaches and meet directors are asked to submit results to the YMCA annual repository (SWYMS). This repository is used for a variety of purposes including the National YMCA TOP 16

Acceptable meets that can be submitted are YMCA meets that are run according to the YMCA rules of meet competition (e.g., dual meets, time trials, last-chance Meets, Virtual Meet, invitational meets, championship meets, and sanctioned meets), and USA Meets.

Non-acceptable meets are meets where the swimmer(s) do not compete under their YMCA Team Name (e.g., high school meets, USA Zone meets, or an unattached swimmer in an USA meet, etc), and intra-squad meets (i.e. intra-team competition)

Acceptable meet results formats are a results export from MeetManager (include all teams, all swimmers, and all results) or a full MeetManager database backup. Do not submit printed copies of the meet results or an export from TeamManager of your own team's meet results.
