SUSPENSION OF TRAINING ACTIVITIES

Due to the Corona Virus pandemic and the efforts being taken to stem the spread of the virus, the YMCA of the USA has cancelled all training activities until at least April 30th. In addition, all national and regional training has been suspended for the rest of the year.

By April 30th, more guidance will be provided as to local training events, much of which will be based on local and national restrictions on meetings. When local training events can resume, you have to also understand that the protocols are not in place for you to conduct remote sessions. Training will still have to be conducted face to face, probably with social distancing procedures in place.

As part of this suspension of training activities, all Y-USA training personnel will be furloughed effective April 16th. Thus you may not be able to get help with the programs if you need it.  These  drastic steps are being taken in response to the YMCA's core value of Social Responsibility by being responsive to the health and safety of its members. This is not a decision that was taken lightly, as the ramifications are significant.

RENEWAL OF CERTIFICATIONS

Recognizing that people's certifications will be expiring, the YMCA of the USA has extended certifications expiring over the next several months, as stated in the official announcement below:

YMCA Aquatic Certification Update 3/18/20

We realize that springtime is a very busy time for certifications and re-certifications for your Aquatic staff, and that many of you have concerns.

Effective March 18, Y-USA is extending the authorization period of all YMCA Aquatic certification expiration dates for four months. Records will be updated accordingly. If you have any questions on your current status, please submit a support case through the Learning and Career Development Center.

Information about external certifications from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross and American Safety and Health Institute can be found in the ARC, AHA and HSI Training Services Update in Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19) Post.

More details will follow providing options for possible re-certifications during this time.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate these unprecedented times.

We will get through this! And, as always, thank you for all you do for YMCA competitive swimming!
